Amy Whelan, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Originally from Colorado, Amy made her way to the sunny Arizona desert where she earned her doctorate degree in Speech and Hearing Science at Arizona State University. She spent her early career gaining extensive experience in family-centered, play-based early intervention. More recently, she provided speech and language services for children, teachers, and special educators from preschool to middle school grades. Amy returned to outpatient pediatric therapy because she believes play is how children learn best. More importantly, no fancy toys are needed because the best toy is… YOU! When she’s away from IPTC, Amy can be found adventuring outside (or sometimes learning TikTok dances) with her husband, daughters, and their fur circus.
Did You Know:
Amy had a close encounter with Shaq when he landed in her lap at a University of Arizona v. LSU basketball game! (And, yes, much to her husband’s dismay, Amy attended both UA and ASU…but house rules are grad school doesn’t count.)
